Known for her evocative oil portraits of Native women, Clarkson explores identity, cultural memory, and inner strength. Her work has earned major honors, including the Arizona Governor’s Choice Award (2024) and multiple Best of Show awards at the Choctaw Nation Indian Arts Show.

Self-taught through studying family photographs, Clarkson’s practice is deeply rooted in her Choctaw heritage. Rather than focusing on physical likeness, she captures emotional presence through expression, posture, and symbolism. Her layered paintings offer intimate, powerful reflections on strength, identity, and storytelling.
