A Collaboration in Glass V

Preston Singletary and Jody Naranjo - A Collaboration in Glass V

Preston Singletary and Jody Naranjo

November 27 – December 10, 2026 — Santa Fe

Artist Reception: Friday, November 27th from 5-7pm

Two great traditions come together in a collaborative exhibit of three-dimensional art—the brilliance of handblown glass combined with traditional pottery forms inspired by indigenous culture.

Glass artist Preston Singletary of Alaskan, Tlingit heritage, and Santa Clara Pueblo potter, Jody Naranjo, share ideas, energy and inspiration in this imaginative series of blown glass and sand-carved vessels. To quote Singletary, “Each time we work together is pure joy. Learning about a different indigenous culture, about the symbolism in its art, and finding new directions in color and form takes me back to my own roots as a glass blower making vases and bowls.”

Credit for this creative collaboration, the fifth in a series between the talented pair, belongs in part to the vision of gallery owner Leroy Garcia whose recognition and appreciation of emerging talent led to an endorsement of both artist’s work some 27 years ago.

“What we ended up creating,” explains Garcia, “is a new genre of Native American art in glass; a material and category that previously never existed. This fusion has provided a groundbreaking opportunity on a larger scale, providing new content, interpretations and possibilities. Thanks to extensive marketing and glass blowing demonstrations nationwide, handblown glass with Native American inspiration has opened an entirely new market embraced by the discerning art collector.”
