Blue Rain Gallery is thrilled to introduce Lew Brennan, a self-taught Australian artist whose deep-seated passion for realism has captivated audiences from the countryside of Queensland to collectors worldwide. Brennan’s work, influenced by the American Super Realist movement, is a heartfelt exploration of rural life, capturing the beauty of people, animals, and landscapes with a stunning emotional depth.

Lew Brennan’s journey began in Brisbane, Australia, where he started creating and selling art as a teenager. A self-professed artist from birth, Brennan was influenced by a lineage of creatives in his family. As a young artist, he embraced realism during a time when abstraction dominated the Australian art scene. Over the years, Brennan has honed a unique style, portraying the essence of country life through subjects that range from equestrian scenes and landscapes to intimate portraits and still lifes.

Settling on a 700-acre farm in Cooran, Queensland, Brennan spent decades raising cattle, horses, and a family. In 2012, he retired from farming to devote himself fully to his art, capturing the spirit of the rural lifestyle that he cherishes.

"My art is where realism meets a touch of emotion," says Brennan. “It’s about capturing the true heart of country life and finding the absolute core of reality in people, places, and things. Through my art, I aim to evoke an emotional response from the viewer—transforming my canvas or paper into a bridge to the emotions that rural life inspires.”
