Carved into the surface of Tammy Garcia's "Avanyu Pot", the Puebloan water serpent swims in a sea of red clay. Sharp angular lines dance across the surface among the soft curves of the Avanyu's body. The carvings have a sheen of red, while a matte orange hue lays recessed where the clay was once removed from. Garcia's pottery is not only beautiful, but blends tradition with magnificent artistry.
