This was also made in the same pottery class. It was made from Micaceous clay, with coil method. When this pot was first constructed to the very top, it was more egg shaped. As it dried gravity pulled the clay down and it became more rounded. I sanded down the pot so it was smooth all around it. Then I applied red slip and stone polished the whole pot. It took approximately 5 hours to stone polish the whole pot. The polish technique created a shiny smooth surface, also mirror-like. I then carved a Tyrannosaurus Rex into the side because I love dinosaurs and I kept referring this pot as my “dinosaur egg” pot because of it’s shape and size. So this pot survived the firing and became the “Dinosaur Egg Pot” after the Bisque fire and oxidation firing.
