Raymond Nordwall is an award-winning indigenous artist from Muskogee, Oklahoma, with Pawnee, Cherokee and Ojibwe heritage. After attending Oklahoma State University, Bacone College and the Institute of American Indian Arts, Nordwall moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he continued to develop his craft. His work began to evolve and grow through studying and employing various art movements and styles, including impressionism, cubism, Japanese woodblock and pop art. Having been immersed in native culture his whole life, Nordwall channels this powerful influence in his art, saying, "I want to inspire people to learn about Native American cultures and their appreciation of life and nature". Today, Nordwall continues to work in Santa Fe, and is known for his unique blend of traditional mediums and modern printing techniques. His creations are both contemporary and vibrantly spirited, and continue to be deeply influenced by Nordwall's native heritage.
