Born in 1982, Raven Skyriver began blowing glass at the age of sixteen in high school. His mentor, Lark Dalton, taught him how to build glass-blowing equipment and trained him in the traditional Venetian technique. In 2003, Raven was invited to join the William Morris team, where he worked until Morris' retirement in 2007. The experience of working alongside such talented artists solidified his decision to pursue glass sculpture as a career.
Raven now lives near the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, where he produces his work in the greater Seattle area. Known for his focus on sculpture and the depiction of marine life, Raven’s art is inspired by his island upbringing and the fragile marine ecosystem that surrounds him. His pieces are celebrated for their intricate details and captivating representation of sea creatures, and are showcased nationally and internationally.
