Red and Gold Series
Part of the Red and Gold Series, this piece was inspired by the feast days at Taos Pueblo. Feast days are filled with amazing food, and one of the highlights is always the watermelon. The narrative behind Watermelon Boy is that he’s eaten all the watermelon at his family’s house and is now sneaking around the village trying to get more from everyone else’s home — craving that sweet, refreshing bite on a hot feast day. This playful, yet meaningful piece captures the joy and tradition of those moments in our community.
