Santa Veronica Bulto (Veil of Veronica)

Frankie Nazario Lucero's "Santa Veronica Bulto (Veil of Veronica)" is an expertly carved piece that pays homage to Saint Veronica in a traditional Spanish Devotional setting.

Veronica is wearing an intricately detailed wimple with a stark red lining that oppositely matches with the black and white stripes in her dress. She stands with upturned hands, grasping a starched white cloth with an image of Jesus Christ at its center. The cloth, known as the Veil of Veronica, is the Christian relic where Jesus wiped the sweat off of his face, leaving his exact image in its wake.
