La Flor de la Reina (The Flower of the Queen)

Bulto; carved wood with pigments, 17.5"h x 6.5"dia, Item No. 24025,

The Lady of Guadalupe is revered as the Queen of Spiritual Flowers, a title that reflects her deep connection to beauty, faith, and divine grace. Floral imagery is central to her story, rooted in the miraculous events surrounding Juan Diego’s vision on Tepeyac Hill.

According to tradition, Juan Diego sought to prove the authenticity of his encounter with Our Lady after his vision was doubted. In the middle of winter, he discovered full‑bloom roses growing atop the hill—an impossibility for the season. He gathered the flowers and presented them to the Bishop of Mexico. As the roses fell from his tilma, the sacred image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared on the fabric.

This moment symbolizes the enduring miracle of Juan Diego’s rose, often represented as a flower placed in a vase that never wilts. It serves as a testament to unwavering faith, divine intervention, and the lasting spiritual presence of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
