Taos Pueblo Woman

This piece reminds me so much of my mother. I think she modeled for many paintings back in the 80s and 90s when she was young. There was such beauty in that, and in the tradition of women balancing pottery and bringing water back into the homes. The water from our river is one of the most delicious things to drink, and I’m proud to have had it my whole life. It’s a source of life, and this painting reflects that life and the deep meditation of returning home. There’s something timeless and powerful about that journey, and it’s captured here.
