Blue Rain’s Annual Celebration of Contemporary Native American Art (during Heard Market Weekend)

Preston Singletary leads a much celebrated line-up of contemporary Native American artists during a special group show…

SCOTTSDALE, A.Z. & SANTA FE, N.M. [December 19, 2013] – Blue Rain Gallery and Blue Rain Contemporary, recognized for its roots as the premier Native American art gallery in the country, is pleased to announce a major exhibition of contemporary Native American Art during Heard Market Weekend. Blue Rain Gallery and Blue Rain Contemporary have a reputation for innovation and excellence, and this year’s show is sure to please. The show is scheduled to take place in our Scottsdale location February 27 – March 2, 2014, and there will be an artists’ opening night reception on Thursday, February 27th from 7 – 9pm.

Preston Singletary, famed Tlingit glass artist, will take the lead in this multi-artist event. Preston’s blown glass and sand-carved sculptures echo the designs and narratives of his Tlingit ancestors, while simultaneously earning their position of importance in the world of contemporary glass art. Artists such as Lisa Holt and Harlan Reano (potters), Jody Naranjo (potter), Tammy Garcia (potter and sculptor), Tony Abeyta (painter), David Bradley (painter), Hyrum Joe (painter and sculptor), and Maria Samora (jeweler) will all have new and exciting works on display. Jody Naranjo’s new monumental, figural bronze sculpture entitled, “Oscar” will be on display among many other notable pieces.
