FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fandangos to Farmers, Minstrels to Miners

New paintings by regional favorite, Jim Vogel…

SANTA FE, N.M. [June 12, 2012] –Blue Rain Gallery is pleased to announce Fandangos to Farmers, Minstrels to Minors, a show of new paintings by painter of the American Scene, Jim Vogel. The show will be on view from July 27 – August 11, 2012 with an artist reception on Friday, July 27th from 5 – 7pm.

Vogel’s paintings confront both the past and the present of northern New Mexico. Visual constructs of rural life, family, and community are rendered lovingly with paint on canvas. His figures are highly stylized and marked by the size and strength conveyed in their hands—an homage to the hardworking nature of those he depicts. A simple honesty comes through in Vogel’s figures; the kind of quality that comes from a life spent more in tune with the rotation of seasons and crop cycles rather than navigating our rapidly growing, fast-paced, technology driven world. Vogel strives to capture all this and more in his newest body of work, Fandangos to Farmers, Minstrels to Miners.

We invite you to join us at Blue Rain Gallery, as we celebrate the rich and vibrant works of Jim Vogel. We expect to have twelve new paintings on view. Do not miss this exciting show!
