FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Paintings by Rimi Yang

Intriguing subject matter combined with intense color and a touch of whimsy make Rimi Yang's painting irresistable

SANTA FE, N.M. [April 25, 2012] –Blue Rain Gallery is pleased to announce its debut show with well-established abstract figurative painter, Rimi Yang. The show will be on view from June 1 - 23, 2012 with an artist reception on Friday, June 1st from 5 – 7pm.

Born and raised in Osaka Japan, yet ethnically Korean, Rimi Yang draws inspiration from the eastern influences of her past. Her most recognizable subjects are often comprised of Asian women and horses, yet her repertoire expands to include depictions of what clothing and personal ornamentation lead us to believe may be English and French nobility, or society men and women from a period of decadence and formality. In acknowledgement of this upcoming show with Blue Rain Gallery, she has stretched her imagination even further to include a portrait of a young Native American girl adorned with turquoise and coral jewelry, blue bird or angel wings; and a portrait of the beloved Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo which she appropriately titles, “Art Saint”. Her backgrounds are richly colored, atmospheric, and layered—the perfect setting for subjects that confound us with their inherent absurdities. In between dripping and torn down layers of paint, Yang communicates an obvious love for process.

Blue Rain Gallery is thrilled to release twelve to fifteen new paintings for the show. Rimi Yang is a widely recognized and accomplished artist that has exhibited extensively in the United States, Europe, China, and Canada. Do not miss this exciting new show.
