IN CHICAGO

SANTA FE, N.M. [October 28,2008] – Blue Rain Gallery will have a strong presence at the fifteenth anniversary celebration of the critically acclaimed Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair (SOFA) in Chicago. The gallery will showcase six of its most established, contemporary artists at the exposition, which runs from Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9. An opening night preview is planned for Thursday, November 6. The event will be held at Festival Hall on Chicago’s Navy Pier.

The event highlights glass, ceramics, furniture, sculpture, and jewelry by established and emerging artists. SOFA also includes special exhibits by internationally recognized museums, fine artists, and arts organizations, as well as an extensive lecture series.

With six of its most innovative contemporary artists in attendance, Blue Rain Gallery will have an important presence at the event. The gallery’s exhibit in booth #1620, will feature ceramic pottery by Tammy Garcia and new work by Tlingit glass artist Preston Singletary. The gallery will also present painted, dimensional assemblages by Tony Abeyta; ceramic vessels by Richard Zane Smith; hand-coiled pottery from Les Namingha; and Shelley Muzylowski Allen’s glass sculptures. Singletary will present a glass blowing demonstration at SOFA on Friday, November 7th. Many, if not all, of the artists will also be on hand to talk about their work with SOFA attendees.

“This is the second year in a row that Blue Rain Gallery has participated in SOFA Chicago. We’re looking forward to building on last year’s success by bringing even more contemporary art to SOFA and having our distinguished artists make presentations at this dynamic event,” says Colleen Franco, director of marketing and communications at Blue Rain Gallery.
