Richard Zane Smith: "This is a work from a series dealing with the passing of, and the effects of time. Here I'm working with how even that which once measured time, an old discarded clock can wear away in time, enveloped by tree roots. The bowl I made years ago, buried in the earth for awhile, let it season before excavating it. It has a Basket Maker period pattern yet using the automobile as a motif."
