Las Cuentistas tells a story of two sisters who lean into one another to tell their respective stories over the centuries over a turbulent sea filled with the bones of their ancestors. They lean to one another each with a type of dress referring to a period in time (16th Century) when their families left Spain and traveled into the “New World.” One has a shell hat (sea voyage), the other has a shawl of roses, one a dress of cross and star patterning and the other has a skirt of branches and domesticated farm animals. The bronze figures are sitting top separate continents.
