I remember driving cross country and made sure to make it through Taos on our way to CA. I am so grateful that we ran into Blue Rain Gallery and saw your amazing work. I am a fine artist in FL, but I hope so some day to own a piece of yours. Your work has made a place in my mind always and you will have yet another admirer of your amazing creations.
I wanted you know that I always keep a quote of yours printed out on the wall in my studio - "We are all journeying. Our journeys encompass our past, our upbringing, our anguishes and joys..." My work will always be about my journey and your inspiration will be a part of the path I am on.

Hey-Bruce is my brother and I just want you all to know his family is very proud of the man and artist he has become. He is very caring, he calls daily to check on mom. Its nice to know he's done so well doing work that is so moving/spiritual and being able to love what you do everyday. He is truely blessed. Love you Bruce your little sis Michelle.

Wonderful work. Technical expertise combined with a sense of whimsy are a winning combination in my book.
When I viewed the video clips of my neighbor Deborah Rael-Buckley on this site, I was struck by all that her art form demands of her. The physicality of her whole body as she moves around her creation, bending over it, molding it, her arms and hands building, layering, and smoothing it; a disciplined technical skill required to control what could be a run-away process; a mental and spiritual concentration exacted to “gather the images” from memory and even from what has been forgotten; and a keen presence to be at one with what is becoming in her studio: all signs of a master ceramicist.
When I first stepped into Deborah’s studio a few years ago, I stood before a ceramic sculpture in tribute to her father-in-law who had died from cancer, as my father recently had. Her sculpture held memories and symbols so powerfully present and real in all of their dimensions, that all I could manage to do, was to turn around and walk back home accompanied by my father, remembering him again, and how much I had loved him and still do.

This moves me. It really connects with me.
I am amazed by the depth of meaning within the pieces that Deborah Rael-Buckley creates. She creates these sculptures that are life sized without any internal support system. They have so many hiddent meanings that relate to her background, New Mexico culture and life in general. They are incredibly rich and beautiful. The colors and shapes make them unique on their own but there is this deeper message that lies beneath the surface that waits to be interpreted. I happen to be an owner and and am always surprised at the reaction generated when people encounter Deborah's art for the first time. Once people get beyond the sheer beauty of the sculpture they ask numerous questions about the symbolism incorporated within the piece. She is able to mesh earthy beauty with commentary on life.
Father and Son -- Simply stated, Genius!
In 1994, a young 27 year old female was awarded "The Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts" to include "The Allan Houser Memorial Award". I would think that she was the "youngest" to receive such a high honor. This artist that I am speaking of is, Cheryl Joe, an absolutely excellent sculptor! I wish you all the best for also winning such a high honor. Congratulations!

Beautiful work, looked like it went by really smooth. I am impressessed that the younger generation is getting back into glass work. It requiers lots of patients, some artists are not ready to handle.

Very beautiful work. It has some of the charactristics of a self-taught artist but the style is very personal because of the subject matter, but the landscapes are very sophisticated. Wonderful execution.

We found this art and video very interesting and the music accompanied the process well. We'd like to see more of this and Tony A. is inspiring to watch. The art is symmetrical and the video brings that out in Tony's organic methods while being relaxing to watch. It would be great to hear Abeyta speak about his art too. Mateo had some wonderful things in a show on war in Santa Fe. Why don't you carry more contemporary imaging of his? I found it to be a nice alternative to traditional (and expected) native themes.

I discovered Tammy's work on a recent trip to Sante Fe. The precision is remarkable. How she can transform her mind's eye into the material's available is the talent of a true genius, but first and foremost, it must be in her mind.

I do wish that galleries and museums would stop assuming that everyone who buys art is a "collector." Many occasional buyers of art (my wife and I included) buy what we see thatt we like and can afford at the time. To buy is not necessarily to "collect."
Thanks for the "4 points" on buying. Now...how about elaborating a bit on each. That would be great. For instance, What is the significance of the number of pieces the artist produces each year? What does one look for to see if a piece is well made? What do you mean by "pricing integrity"?
