\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"The paintings I create depict the world not often seen, visually documenting life at Taos Pueblo, the land of my ancestry. Being enveloped in this native world, I have been able to become a part of what others can only speculate about. I have focused on imagery, which depicts the world of my ancestral heritage, and family - the pinnacle of what my ancestry has left for me. It is through them that I have learned about who I am and the proud people I have come from.
The imagery on my canvases represents and illustrates my upbringing whether it is a visual interpretation of a story once told by grandparents, Or whether it is of a fond memory of childhood. In most my paintings today you will find that part of who I am.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Some of the paintings I create today depict the imagery of the natural environments. In the past, I had focused on having the sunsets and sunrise become a focal point in my work while maintaining a native appeal. I have enjoyed creating these scenes largely in part of the wonderful colors that can be found in each sunset and sunrise. As each sunset or sunrise occurs here in the Taos valley I continue to become ever more amazed at how each one is uniquely different. By viewing and appreciating these sunsets I have found myself implementing these colors in many of my paintings, providing my work with the vibrancy of natures palette.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I was once asked about my educational background in the field of arts and I best recall my answer to that was somewhat complicated and different than an answer I would have given during a earlier time in my life.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I am as I would say a person who questions life for what it beholds. I come from a heritage of ancient ancestry, a people whose lives were dependant on the rituals they practiced, the prayers for life, the balance of respecting nature, the ceremonies to invoke the rains. They had no college educations no PhDs or meteorological skills to tell them the weather patterns, they were just who they were, yet they survived and moved forward with the guidance of their spiritual beliefs and personal relationship with nature.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I guess I would like to be like them, free in spirit just being who I am. As I mentioned it was complicated, but this is how I choose to express myself. I am who I am, and this is how I would like to be known and ultimately remembered.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
